Introducing ZARFO Tokens — From Platform Credits to Base Chain ERC-20
One of the most common questions since launch: "When will Zarfo Credits become a real token?" For how credits work today, see our credit economy guide. Spoiler: credits already power everything from daily streak bonuses to redeeming gift cards — the token layer adds governance and premium features on top.
The honest answer: the ZARFO ERC-20 token is already live on Base chain. It's not a future plan — it's a working contract at 0xF45D89C841C104526286b87FC7c848891233DA9f on Base mainnet. See our sustainable reward economy post for why we took this phased approach.
This post explains what that means, what changes for everyday users, what stays the same, and the phased roadmap to a community-governed token economy.
What Is the ZARFO Token?
ZARFO is an ERC-20 token deployed on Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 chain built by Coinbase. It follows the standard Ethereum token specification — the same format used by USDC, Uniswap, Chainlink, and thousands of other tokens.
Symbol: ZARFO
Name: Zarfo Token
Decimals: 18
Chain: Base (chain ID: 0x2105)
Contract: 0xF45D89C841C104526286b87FC7c848891233DA9f
Total Supply: Fixed cap (ERC-20 Capped)
Standard: EIP-20 (ERC-20)
If you have a MetaMask wallet configured for Base, you can add ZARFO to your portfolio right now and check your balance.
Why Base Chain?
We evaluated four chains before choosing Base. Here's the honest comparison:
| Chain | Institutional Credibility | Transaction Cost | Ecosystem | UX for Casual Users | Overall Assessment | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | Base | Coinbase-backed | Very low | Growing | Good | ✅ Best fit | | Ethereum L1 | Highest | High ($5–$50+ per tx) | Largest | Poor | ✅ Works but expensive | | Polygon | Medium | Low | Established | Moderate | ⚠️ Perception risk | | Solana | High | Very low | Large | Different standard | ⚠️ Different wallet model |
Base wins on the four things that matter for a platform token: institutional backing (Coinbase), low fees, Ethereum security, and reasonable UX for users who need to interact with the chain. Solana and Polygon have their strengths, but for a token that casual users will hold and occasionally transfer, Base is the right fit.
What the ZARFO Token Does Right Now
The token currently has two functional uses on the platform:
1. Governance Voting Weight
Every governance poll on the platform uses your ZARFO token balance as your voting weight. When a poll opens, your wallet's ZARFO balance determines how much influence your vote carries.
- 500 ZARFO → 500 votes
- 5,000 ZARFO → 5,000 votes
- 50,000 ZARFO → 50,000 votes
One wallet, one vote per poll, weighted by balance. You can change your vote until the poll closes — the final cast vote is what counts. Voting results are recorded and publicly verifiable.
2. Premium Feature Access
Some platform features are token-gated:
- Premium spin wheel — Requires holding 1,000+ ZARFO to access higher stake tiers and better payout segments
- VIP raffle entries — Token holders get exclusive raffle campaigns with better prize tiers
- Early campaign access — Governance participants get first access to new reward campaigns
These aren't pay-to-win mechanics. They're preference features for users who want deeper engagement and are willing to hold tokens to access them.
What the ZARFO Token Does Not Do
Important: the token is not yet the platform's primary reward mechanism. Credits are. Here's what the token is explicitly not:
- Not a financial instrument — We will never publicly imply that ZARFO will appreciate in value
- Not a substitute for credits — Credits are earned through platform engagement; tokens are distributed through campaigns
- Not liquid on DEX yet — No Uniswap or other DEX listing yet. Speculation is not supported by the platform.
- Not governance-over-everything — Operational decisions are not token-voteable; only strategic governance matters
The token exists because a reusable reward currency is more powerful when it's portable across contexts. But portability is a platform feature, not a financial promise. If you're new to Zarfo, our welcome guide explains the basics — and our FAQ covers the most common questions about credits vs. tokens.
The Four-Phase Token Migration Roadmap
Credits and tokens currently coexist as separate systems. Here's the roadmap for how they converge:
Phase 1 — Token Launch ✅ (Complete)
- ERC-20 contract deployed on Base at
0xF45D89C841C104526286b87FC7c848891233DA9f - Wallet integration live — MetaMask + Base network supported
- Governance polls active — voting weight tied to token balance
- Airdrop campaign distributing tokens to early platform users
- ZARFO token visible in wallet via Basescan and MetaMask
Phase 2 — Token-Gated Platform Features (In Progress)
- Premium spin wheel requires 1,000 ZARFO token balance
- VIP raffle campaigns for token holders only
- Governance participation as primary token utility
- Token staking mechanism for spin multiplier boosts
Phase 3 — Credit-to-Token Bridge (Planned — Requires Governance Vote)
- Community vote to approve bridge mechanism
- Third-party audit of bridge contract
- Users can optionally bridge credits to tokens at a fixed conversion rate
- Tokens received through bridge are locked for 30 days (no immediate dump)
- Credit economy continues in parallel — not replaced by token economy
This phase requires a full governance vote, third-party smart contract audit, and legal review before activation. We're not rushing it.
Phase 4 — Ecosystem Expansion (Future — Post-Bridge)
- DEX listing consideration (after governance approval)
- Cross-platform token utility (integration with other platforms in the project ecosystem)
- Community treasury governed by DAO (proportional to token holdings)
- Yield farming (for staked tokens — governed rate, not speculative)
Hard Tokenomics — What We Know Now
We're publishing the framework before listing or speculation becomes a problem:
| Parameter | Value | Notes | |---|---|---| | Total Supply | Fixed cap | Cannot be inflated without governance vote | | Initial Distribution | Airdrop campaign + team allocation | Team tokens locked for 12 months | | Emission Schedule | Community-governed after Phase 3 | No surprise inflation | | Utility | Governance + staking + platform access | Not a financial instrument | | Speculation Framing | Not supported | "Buy ZARFO to profit" is not a platform message |
Non-negotiable stance: We will never publicly imply investment upside. The ZARFO token is a platform utility. It is not a financial promise.
How to Check Your ZARFO Token Balance
MetaMask + Base Network
- Open MetaMask
- Add Base network: Network Name = "Base", RPC URL =
https://mainnet.base.org, Chain ID =0x2105, Symbol = "ETH" - Go to the "Tokens" tab → "Import tokens"
- Paste the contract address:
0xF45D89C841C104526286b87FC7c848891233DA9f - MetaMask auto-fills: ZARFO, 18 decimals
- Confirm — your balance appears
Basescan
Visit Basescan.io and search for 0xF45D89C841C104526286b87FC7c848891233DA9f to see all token transfers, total supply, and holder count.
The Airdrop Campaign
If you received ZARFO tokens through the airdrop campaign:
- Tokens are already in your connected wallet
- Airdrop recipients get governance voting rights immediately
- Staking for premium features requires holding 1,000+ ZARFO
- Tokens cannot be sold on DEX yet — airdrop is for utility, not trading
The airdrop is designed to distribute governance power to early platform users, not to create a trading market. That's intentional.
Anti-Speculation Stance
This deserves its own section because it matters:
The worst thing a platform token can do is imply it will appreciate. "ZARFO to the moon" is not a message we'll send. "Wen listing?" is not a question we'll answer with hype. The token exists because:
- Governance needs a voting mechanism — on-chain voting weighted by token balance is more transparent than off-chain polls
- Loyalty should be rewarded — users who hold tokens long-term should get platform perks
- A reusable reward currency is more powerful when portable — but portability comes after trust, not before
When (and if) the token lists on a DEX, we'll publish full tokenomics, a third-party audit report, and a governance framework before listing — not after. We're not building toward a listing; we're building toward a platform. The token is infrastructure.
How to Follow Token Development
The best way to stay updated:
- Participate in governance polls — every vote is public and recorded
- Watch the governance dashboard at
/governfor upcoming proposals - Follow official platform channels for announcements
